About Me
Photographer & Developer
Hi, I’m a South African software developer who likes going outdoors (shocking, I know). I enjoy the great outdoors, wildlife, and sports. I grew up in Johannesburg, but my heart was always at the coast, probably because the sea doesn’t ask you to fix its printer. Those holidays spent swimming and exploring rugged coastlines sparked a love for nature that my keyboard is still jealous of.
The Tech Adventure
After school I started a love-hate relationship with technology that’s still going strong. I dove into the chaotic world of software and web development, navigating those roads where nothing works and you have no idea why, and days where everything works and still you have no idea why.
It’s a confusing existence, but that constant puzzle is what keeps me hooked and always learning.
A Wild Break
I decided to turn myself off and on again by trading my keyboard for a camera and binoculars, qualifying as a field guide in Pilanesberg. It was a high-stakes game of hide-and-seek with the African wildlife and my trusty Nikon.
Spending hours at waterholes taught me patience, and working with guests from around the world, communication. Skills that translate well back in the world of corporate IT.
Currently Exploring
A few years back I swapped the South African bush for the Netherlands. I use it as a base camp to explore Europe, trading the bushveld for the snowy peaks of the French Alps and Georgia to chase powder on my snowboard. When the snow melts you'll find me swimming and touring through the coastal landscapes of Crete, Cyprus, and Croatia. The adventure is just getting started.
